Zantho, Gruner Veltliner, Neusiedlersee, Austria
The grapes for our Grüner Veltliner grow in our vineyards in the wine region Neusiedlersee which is characterized by dry, gritty and mineral soils. The region counts to the warmest and driest spots in Austria and gives therefore ideal conditions for the production of wonderfully distinctive white wines. A brilliant white-gold color with green reflections. In the nose it seduces with spicy notes of fresh stone fruit and fine minerality. On the palate our wine shows deep fruit together with a fine acidity. Pure fun and the ideal summer wine with its moderate alcohol level!

Chevallier Bernard, Jacquere, Savoie Jongieux, France
southeast France tucked next to the Alps and bordering Italy and Switzerland is the wild, picturesque region known as the Savoie. The skiing town of Chamonix is in the Savoie and so is the gorgeous Lake Annecy. Famous for its Raclette and other alpine cheeses, Savoie is also a producer of vibrant, minerally white wines grown largely in the foothills of the Alps. Grapes like Jacquére are unfamiliar to most of us in California, but are the foundational wines of the region and they are bright, fresh-tasting and very welcome.

Porta del Vento "Ishac" Nero d'Avola Sicily, Italy

Aging in large casks for at least twelve months. A mature wine since the first year, rich in aromas of ripe wild berries, black and red cherry, and intense ruby red color. 100% organic and biodynamic Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s signature grape variety. Fattoria San Francesco, Círo, Gaglioppo, Calabria, Italy 2017
Enotria" (the land of wine). That's what the ancient Greeks had to say about the wild deep Southern Italian region Calabria. This region provides the toe to the Italian peninsula and is home of the indigenous variety Gaglioppo that was brought by the earliest Greek colonizers. A magic and untouched landscape more akin to the wilderness of inland Greece and Northern Africa, stupendously Mediterranean. CIRO' is the most important and historical wine denomination f this region. Legend and now archeology has it that the wine of Ciro' was offered to ancient Olympic champions in Greece 3000 years ago. The winery Fattoria San Francesco is nested in a XVI century monastery where vineyards and olive groves were planted. In Italy the winery boasts "cult status" amongst Somms and wine industry peers, having long been considered one of the most traditional and classic producers of Calabrian wine. From those vineyards, the wines from the Fattoria San Francesco are still produced, and the monastery is the center of the agricultural activity. Gallioppo is the most important red wine grape in Calabria and Greco the white. The Iuzzolini family has recently taken over the winery and renovated as well as improved production on all levels. 12 days maceration, selected yeasts, brief passage in used French oak barriques. Mixed array of estate vineyards on white clay in the CIRO DOC. Organically farmed. Superbly classic example of a Calabrian red. Lovely soft and ripe fruit with exotic dark flowers

El Maestro Sierra, Pedro Ximenez, Jerez de la Frontera, Andalucia, Spain
Site: Jerez de la Frontera Grapes: Pedro Ximénez Solera Aging: 15 years Tasting Notes: A great nose of exotic spices and almost red fruits combine with more classic caramel overtones. With great acidity the wine is light on its feet and almost refreshing. In 1832 the master carpenter José Antonio Sierra founded El Maestro Sierra. As one of the top co-opers in the area, José Antonio was the person who made the barrels for all of the big Sherry houses. After years of making barrels for everyone else he came to the conclusion that he could produce Sherries that were better than what the big Sherry houses were cranking out, so he went about opening up his own little winery. This little up-start Sherry producer was not welcomed in world of nobility-owned Sherry houses and so the local gentry did everything they could to stop him. Fortunately the quality of his sherry prevailed over their efforts and José Antonio Sierra became one of the top Almacenistas (stock-holders) of high quality Sherries. Poking fun at his struggle, the label depicts an allegorical fox hunt with the nobles hunting El Maestro Sierra’s fox.
