Organic

Davide Spillare, Garganega, Veneto, Italy

Vines grown in the volcanic soil of Gambellara. Spontaneous fermentation of Garganega grapes. Aged for eight months in steel. Bagged without filtration or corrections showcasing the light mineral and lively side of this classic grape. Davide is a member of VinNature, a group of 180 winemakers from around the world who all follow natural winemaking principles. An early student of the natural wine pioneer Angiolino Maule, he embraced biodynamics and natural winemaking with his first release in 2007. For Davide this means no interference in the vineyard or cellar, spontaneous fermentation, minimal sulphur use (under 20mg/liter), no filtering or fining and most importantly a deep and abiding respect for the land his family has farmed for generations. His vineyards, farmed biodynamically, he says simply, are on loan and in his safekeeping for future generations. The focus of his estate is Garganega, one of the most important white grapes of Italy and one that is perfectly at home in the basalt soils of Gambellara.

Weingut Dolomiten, Muller Thurgau, Trentino/Alto-Adige, Italy

The Müller-Thurgau grape is the daughter of Riesling, and this beautifully executed Garlider has inherited her delicate aromatics and crisp, refreshing nature. Subtle fruits such as underripe peach and melon, green apple, and lemon grace the nose, followed by gentle notes of grass, hay, and aromatic flowers. It is a crisp, saline, savory wine, yet it has a roundness on the palate reminiscent of a Pinot Grigio or Muscadet.

Situated on the historic boundary between Italy and Austria, the two autonomous regions were returned to Italy after World War I (hence why they are often lumped together). Alto-Adige retains great pride in its Germanic heritage, evidenced by the dual language bottle labels appearing in the region. Alto-Adige is most famous for its crisp and minerally whites

Felix, Blaufrankisch, Burgenland, Austria

LTR Bottle. 100% Blaufrankisch
A wine for weeknight dinners and sipping with friends. Made for us from Stefan Wellanschitz's (of Kolfok fame) family estate. It is Blaufrankisch from 15-45 year old vineyards in Unterpetersdorf in the Neckenmarkter mountains where his Mother is from. The soils are clay and basalt which imparts a wonderful minerality. Everything about it speaks to the tradition and where they are from, from the family vineyards to the used large 1500-3000 liter barrels made by a local cooper from trees in the Waldviertal used vintage after vintage. Only native yeasts are used, no fining and minimal amounts of sulphur. The Felix Blau is a wine we are absolutely delighted to have and enjoy here in the U.S. for the first time. intense red and black fruit flavors of red cherry, redcurrant, plum and blackberry, along with the spiciness of black pepper.

Candialle Azienda Agricola, Ciclope, Toscano Rosso, Italy, 2013

A rare red blend from husband and wife, organic farmers, and winemaking team Jarkko and Josephin Peranen. This earthy and elegant wine is primarily Merlot and Sangiovese with a bit of Syrah and Petit Verdot. While this may sound like a rich and potentially tannic combination, in their hands, with their hand-tended, high-altitude vines, it is a lithe, food-appropriate, deliciously drinkable wine. True to all of their wines, the Ciclope has been held until it shows its absolute best. Named after their dog, who lost an eye in an unfortunate tussle with a Tuscan porcupine, it is a unique bottling demonstrating the finesse Jarkko and Josephin are known for.

Embolden, Dark As Day, Horchata, Golden Milk Stout

Dark as Day is a special collaboration with our friends from SouthNorte Brewing Company. Known for their cross border/cross culture specialty beers - we wanted to brew something unique for their beer fans as well as open our portfolio to new styles. We made larges batches of horchata and added them to a golden stout base during the brewing process then added Mexican cold brew with cinnamon from Trident Coffee Roasters. The end result is a beer that bursts with cinnamon and notes of coffees and an extremely smooth mouthfeel!
